Each week I will be capturing and uploading a week in the life of a brand and website designer living a nomadic lifestyle.

Follow along to see my day-to-day and the current projects I'm working on.

Episode 12

  • Welcome back to episode 12, of a week in the life of a designer on the road!

We’re still in Calgary, where it’s -25 at the moment! Crazy times.

This week was quite intense, we had a lot of proposals we were working on so it’s been a lot of behind-the-scenes strategy work this week rather than too much designing.

Our client Tooth Angel is getting ready for their launch party next week so I’ve been helping them with their launch party PowerPoint presentation and a few other last-minute things to make sure the event runs smoothly and is well-branded.

I have also been working on the designs for the nonprofit marketing co which are starting to take shape now, I’m really happy with how it’s looking, and I’m excited to get the content in next week.

We’ve been working on StacheStrong as well, we’re gathering all the final bits of content, Will has started the build of the site and it’s looking great so far.

This week, we went to a couple of events in Calgary, Pixels and Pints on the Tuesday, and Creatives and Cocktails on the Thursday.

This weekend we went to see Dune in the cinema as Will is obsessed and went on a hike through Green Monster Ice Fals.

Episode 13

  • Week 13, lets go!

It keeps getting colder, feels like -31 this week, but it’s hotting up in the studio, with two websites getting ready to launch, Tim Horton’s is needed!

We’re finishing up all the last minute tweaks with StacheStrong, I’ve been QA-ing the site, which means that I go through every page, test every link, review the site to make sure it’s perfect.

Veranda is very nearly done, all the products are uploaded and we’re testing the site as we speak, we can’t wait for this to be launched, we’re really happy with how this has turned out.

I got a haircut on Wednesday, so that’s why hair has changed in this video, rocking the millennial business bob now loool how original

We’re also working on the Nonprofit marketing co website design, this week it’s all really started to take shape and the client is ‘obsessed’ with how it looks which always makes me happy!

Finally, we did some last minute little bits for Tooth Angel final bits for their launch party, to make sure everything is ready!

For our last week in Calgary, we went to see the Calgary Flames play, watched Dune, and went to a fundraiser on Saturday for endometriosis where I bid way too much money on these cute little sprites.

    See ya!

Episode 14

  • Week 14 of the Designs Diaries, let’s go!

StacheStrong is very nearly ready for launch - I’ve been reviewing the site and ping-ponging amends with Will, we’re nearly there and can’t wait to launch the site officially next week on their 6 year anniversary.

On Tuesday we moved - I got the date wrong for it, which meant we had to take all our luggage to the coworking space which was a hoot.

Our lovely pal Ryan very kindly drove us through the mountains, seriously look at her, to our new home for the next month - Canmore!

I’ve also been working with Jake from Big Nibbles (that’s nibbles with two b’s) on his new site design, it’s not just there yet but the initial concept has been approved once we’ve got the content provided, we can refine and finalise before we get building.

The Nonprofit Marketing Co. website design is nearly finished, few final tweaks and then can begin build.

This is now our commute into the office, definitely the best commute we’ve had yet. I feel like a little Canadian mountain elf.

On the weekend, we hiked some mountains and on Sunday we went on a biking experience through the Rockies.

Canmore has my heart, see you next week for more mountains!

Episode 15

  • Welcome back to week 15 of the Design Diaries, Winter Wonderland edition.

Whilst it’s technically the first day of spring this week, Canmore said no thank you, i would prefer the Christmas vibes, and I can’t complain.

This week we launched StacheStrong’s new website, which has gone down a treat! We’re really happy with how it ended up and the client loves it too.

I did some more work on the Big Nibbles site for Jake, making a few more design changes and getting that prepped to hand over to Will.

The Nonprofit Marketing Co. website is coming along nicely, the designs are very nearly finished, just waiting a few bits of content before we start build with that.

I’ve also been designing some sales pages for Mindful Champs which we’ll build in Shopify once they are approved.

Also we’re pulling together a press page for Glioblastoma Research Organization, shouting about all the amazing press they’ve had from orgs like Forbes, The Miami Herald and Newsweek.

This weekend we went loco for lakes - here is The infamous Lake Louise, look at her, she’s bloody lovely, we also saw lots of over lovely lakes. I also made a snow angel for the first time in about 10 years. Living the dream!

    See you next week!
